Our President, George Flick has lived at his present home at Carabene, Quarry Lane for 74 years. He was educated at the Ewingsdale School after the war. In those days there was 1 teacher, 8 classes and 38 school pupils. He was a dairy farmer until the 1970s when he changed to beef and operated an intensive piggery. Mind you for 60 years he has also been a banana grower! In the 1980s he started growing sugar cane at Broken Head and these days he also grows macadamias at Ewingsdale. A bit of an all round farmer!! His grandparents were William and Sarah Flick who came to Ewingsdale in 1888.George and wife, Fae have 3 children, David, Jane and Tony. They have 8 grandchildren. Tony's family live on the farm and so the children are fifth generation to live here.
The RTA (or its new name MRA) and associated ministers are ignoring the EC, so the enlarged Ewingsdale interchange will be a very nasty result. Andrew & Bernard visited the NSW Parlt. Sec for Roads, in Sydney, the Hon John Ajaka, MLC before Xmas and put our case but to no avail so far. We fear that the Bangalow people have done us and themselves a dis-service. The MRA will start to hold meetings on the 24th January to inform the public what is happening with regards to the Tintenbar Ewingsdale highway construction.
New Cycleway waiting to washed away in the rain
Nobody really knows why the cycleway into town has not been completed by Council. With rainy weather there is a severe risk that the track will be washed away. What are Council doing? We hear that Council are building the small bridge required at the bottom of the track. If that is the case, they have taken quite a few months so far to build something that would appear to be pretty straightforward.
The Roundabout at the new Sports Fields
Does anyone actually drive in the correct lanes when traversing? If so, your steering wheel must be getting plenty of action!
